Jamming at Rainham, jammin' at the Ingrebourne

Missed out yesterday - me and Mum left Rainham just before the whoopers arrived. A brief tour of carparks between Rainham and home yielded non redpolls at Belhus and two bullfinch at the Ingrebourne.

This morning I went down to Rainham with the girl on the chance the swans might still be there, only to be disappointed. It was shortlived disappointnemt though, as just as we finished eating someone called the two tundra bean geese. They were in plain sight from the centre, and a long overdue life tick. Yeah, number 221. One of those ticks I should really have sorted out by now.

Driving through the Ingrebourne on the way to rehearsal today we found a yellow-legged gull in the field neighbouring the studio - peering through the hedge confirmed the ID as a patch tick. During a break in rehearsal I got lucky again. As darkness fell I went outside for the phone only to hear a little owl calling from the end of the carpark. I knew it was worth extending those patch boundaries... Shame the rehearsal was a bit shite.

New Ingrebourne total for 2010 of 67 and I'm still missing loads of "easy" birds. I'm starting to wonder if they're actually easy, or if I'm just being shite.

I won't mention the spelling mistake, or the fact you took that photo on your phone when my nice camera was in your bag. Or that you could have told me about the little owl when i was just inside at the time...
