Lots going on at the minute...
It has been exactly one month since I last updated this shitty excuse for a bird blog. The reason is that I've been doing exciting grown up things: the girl and I got engaged, we've just signed on a new flat, we had a great holiday in Cornwall and I finally ticked ring ouzel. Wow.

This is part of the view from the new flat. I think a "fuck yes" is in order. I can't wait until that Saturday in early December, when there's a howling easterly on a rising tide, it's 2 degrees outside, but feeling more like minus 10, and you guys are all lined up on the balcony at Rainham, freezing your nuts off. I'll be at home in the warm, scoping out from the sofa, with some tea, thinking of you. It's going to be amazing.
More seriously though, there is genuine potential here to turn up something good. Not just local-garden good, but actually good. Remember that grey phal last year? Yeah, that would probably be on the house list. So far, the house list is around 10 strong, but it does include redshank and little egret, both of which I could never hope for here in Romford.
And yet, despite all this I can't think of anything to write at the moment. I've half written three posts over the last month and haven't finished any of them. I'll probably write some more about Cornwall another time, but for now, here's a chaffinch.

Looking forward to the Cornwall post, just had a look through your photos and they're dangerously close to being good. X
